Constructing a DVD Small Hive Beetle Trap
Step One:   Go to garage sale, thrift store and buy and
cheap unwanted DVD movie.
Step Two:   Remove the plastic cover and movie label.
Step Three: Take some 8 inch mesh hard cloth and cut to
fit the size of the DVD case.
Step Four: Use Duck tape to secure the mesh hard cloth
onto the DVD case.  Make sure the mesh hard cloth is
covering the holes all the edge of the DVD case.
Note what looks like fish hooks is where the beetle will
enter into the trap to eat the bait and die.
Step Five: On some DVD cases there are some holes on
the back cover large enough for a bee to fit through.  Duck
tape the holes closed.
Step Six:  In a medium bowl mix a 1/4 cup of Boric Acid, 1/4
cup of soy flour or wheat flour, 1/4 cup of powder sugar.
Add peanut oil to make it clump together then add either
Apple juice.   Mix well.  You do not want it runny!

Place some of the bait in the around the circle portion
inside the DVD case.  Do not get any of the bait on the
outside of the case.

Lastly, close the DVD case up and place in the bottom of
your hive on the screen bottom board or standard hive
bottom board.
